The smoke simulation system within Blender 2.5 has recently received a huge amount of attention from both developers and users alike. As the builds continue, a lot of things have been fixed or improved, and there are also some exciting new features! In this brand-new series we will introduce almost all of these features in a single project – creating a candle with a volumetric flame. Let’s get started!
I wrote this tutorial, because I couldn't find any really good text tutorials and searching for "text" brought up a lot of texturing hits. It goes of the basics of using the text object.
The effect is based around a voxel data texture whith the heat values of the the smoke as source. This tutorial assumes that you are already familiar with the smoke simulation in Blender 2.5. You can also download the finished blendfile.
